5 Tips For Summer Skin Health

February 2, 2023 Ipsum, La Fervance, MOTHER SPF, NUORI, Skincare, The Kind Sunscreen

Over the summer months our skin faces different environmental stressors. It needs different protection, different textures and different ingredients to tackle its new condition. How can you keep your routine simple this summer, while ensuring your skin radiant and clear? Check out our 5 Tips for Summer Skin Health.

1. Be sun wise

Shade, Sunscreen & Protective Clothing

Sometimes in life it’s the simple things that are most effective. Check the UV rating and seek shade during peak hours of the day. Wear a hat, long sleeves and protective clothing when outdoors and make SPF application a part of your daily beauty routine. Haven’t found a sunscreen you love to apply? We love Good Morning SPF50, The Kind Sunscreen and MotherSPF for every day face protection.

2. Keep it clean

Can you double cleanse with a single product?

Yes, you can! Double cleansing is a great way to keep your skin clear and healthy over the summer months when you might be wearing heavier SPF and perspiring. The concept is simple: the first cleanse removes makeup, SPF and surface dirt while the second actually cleans the skin. Opt for an oil-based cleanse to start and follow with a gel, foam or cream for your second cleanse. Or, find one that does both! We love NUORI Vital Foaming Cleanser and Ipsum Best Skin Cleansing Oil Balm.

3. Don’t skip moisturiser

Even oilier skin needs hydration

You might be keen to skip your moisturiser now that your skin is looking juicy and feeling oilier. We still advocate using a moisturiser over summer, especially if you’re going from outdoors to harsh air-conditioned spaces. Instead of skipping, switch your moisturiser to a lighter texture like NUORI Vital Facial Cream. It has a matte finish that’s perfect for all skin types, and pairs great with that extra layer of SPF you’ll be wearing.

4. Exfoliate regularly

Just keep it to evenings for now

Many people find their skin breaks out more frequently over summer, which may be due to a build up of sweat, sunscreen and not properly cleansing. Gently exfoliating the skin over summer helps remove build-up, brighten and clarify the skin. Exfoliation can make skin more sensitive to UV exposure, so keep the application to your evening ritual and always pair with SPF use. Add a luxurious step to your skincare ritual with La Fervance Gommage Extraordinaire.

5. Caught the sun? Calm and soothe with the right products

We’ve all been there!

If your skin has been over-exposed to the sun, it’s a great reminder to check your sunscreen for efficacy and take note to increase your sun-smart practices like seeking shade and wearing a hat outdoors. Soothing and calming your skin afterwards is also key. Opt for a hydrating and gentle treatment like NUORI Vital Repair Serum. It’s lightweight and targets both emerging and existing visible signs of photodamage.
